COMMITTEE 2019/2020

Jake Lowry

Executive Chair

Having been a First Year Rep, I was impressed by the reach and quality of the society’s work. As Chair, I hope to facilitate this tradition of producing impactful policy papers, and to ensure continued engagement with the Cambridge community and beyond. I am a second-year History and Politics student at Sidney Sussex and I have a keen interest in music.

Vincent Wang

Vice Chair

Having grown up in both the US and China, my bicultural background piqued my interest in International Relations as well as Comparative Politics. I am also fascinated by the intersection of law and public policy, which I hope to further explore after my undergraduate studies.

Moni Owoade

Head of Policy

Before coming to Cambridge, I studied International Affairs at Princeton University and then spent two years working in investment banking at J.P Morgan in New York. As part of TWS, I served as a first year rep on the policy team and worked on the recent International Aid in Venezuela Paper.

Beatrice Wong

Deputy-head of Policy

Hi, I’m Beatrice and I’m a third-year historian at Caius. I have previously written on the ‘Measures to address the Venezuelan Crisis’ paper, and am currently co-editing a paper on the ‘War on Drugs’

Sagar Agrawal

I was born and brought up in Brighton, although both my parents are from India, so Hindi is the main language I speak at home. Outside of work, I love playing football, cricket and pool for College, but I also enjoy snooker, poker and travelling amongst other things.

Alex Parton

Head of Publicity

I have a background working with domestic and international social ventures and an interest in emergent tech strategy. I am currently working on a paper exploring the UK's network security and digital policy.

Elizabeth Leong

Deputy-head of Publicity

I have been involved in publicity work for The Wilberforce Society since my first year and I look forward to the next academic year.

Rui Shan Tang

Head of Sponsorship

I'm an avid sports fan, spending a lot of my free time either playing rugby or squash. Previously, I was a first year Finance representative with TWS.

Boyang Hou

Head of Events

I am a second-year historian from Singapore and China with a strong interest in public policy in the Asia-Pacific region. Prior to taking up my current role, I was involved in the Wilberforce society as a First-Year Representative and policy paper writer. Outside of Wilberforce, I am also very interested in general knowledge and am an active member of the Cambridge University Quiz Society.

Luke Cavanaugh

Head of Conference

I have an interest in a wide-range of policy issues, particularly foreign policy in Eastern Europe and Russia, and Globalisation more generally. Currently, in addition to organising the conference, I am writing a paper on Internet Governance.

George Stokes

Head of Conference

I was first involved with TWS as a first-year rep for the 2020 conference, and am now excited to be leading the 2021 conference with Luke. Outside of TWS, I’m a Londoner and I enjoy travelling and baking.
